In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the MSSc in Government and Politics (Greater China) (GPGC), the TPg Programme Office of the Department of GPA organized a banquet on 24 March 2023 (Friday) in CUHK for alumni, students, and teachers to get together. The banquet was filled with events lined up for the evening, including an opening remark by Department Head, Prof. Carlos LO, a welcoming address by the Programme Director Prof Vivian ZHAN, a keynote speech given by Prof. Patrick Nip Tak-Kuen GPS, JP, and a group photo taking session. Prof. Nip’s sharing and insights on the implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems Policy” have been very well received by all GPGC members. We are also honored to have invited Miss Wu Xinchun, Class 2019 and current anchor & reporter with Phoenix TV (HK), to be the MC. It was a wonderful evening filled with joy, laughter, and chat. We greatly appreciate the community’s support to GPGC all along and in the many years to come!

On 22 April 2023 (Sat), GPGC teachers and students had a Term End Gathering at the Chung Chi College Staff Club to celebrate the end of the academic term and to bid farewell to the Class of 2023. The teachers and students enjoyed their time with delicious dim sum and casual chats. The academic year has been concluded successfully with this joyful event.

Professor Vivian Zhan, Programme Director of GPGC, welcomed new students and encouraged them to become a person of H.O.P.E., which in simple translation, is a person of High aspiration, Open mind, Professionalism, and Exploration.

The program was then followed by greetings and self-introductions of GPGC teachers. Prof. Jean Pierre Cabestan and Prof. William Smith joined the event physically, while Prof. Michel Bonnin and Dr. James Downes sent their warm remarks to the students via pre-recorded videos.

The session was followed by an introduction to important academic matters, programme activities and university resources. Students then participated actively in the Q&A session.

Lastly, teachers and students were assigned to small groups to mingle and get to know each other before the start of the academic year.

We wish all GPGC students a healthy and fruitful academic year ahead!
