Course Description:
This course introduces key concepts, theories and models in the study of policy sciences. To resolve complex and multi-level public problems of a globalized world in a way that help to identify and enhance common interests, policy sciences provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach for making good policy decisions. This course aims to help students understand the principle, process and structure in designing policies.

Prof. Wilson Wong, Programme Director of BSSc Programme in Data Science and Policy Studies, is the academic advisor of a public opinion survey under the “Data for People” project by the Hong Kong Internet Society. The survey report has just been released on July 10, 2021. He has also written an article in Mingpao to discuss the findings and the implications.

Course Description:
Data visualization and storytelling sit in the intersect of science and art. This course introduces key design principles, best practice of data visualization as well as effective story framing and delivering techniques. No prior programming skill is needed, students from all disciplines are welcome.
Over the course, students will get hands-on experience with Tableau, a highly sought-after data vis tool in industry. The lecturer will also share her real work experience as data visualist in the US. Guest lecture(s) from leading companies in the field may be expected.
